VFS MD gets ‘Champion of Change’ award

Kolkata-based microfinance company Village Financial Services Ltd. added another feather to its cap when its MD & CEO Dr. Kuldip Maity was presented with the ‘Champion of Change’ award by Vice President of India Venkaiah Naidu at a glittering ceremony at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi.

The award instituted by NGO Interactive Forum on Indian Economy (IFIE) was presentd to recognize those who have contributed significantly to bring meaningful change in Aspirational Districts.

Jury members looked at the development rankings of Aspirational Districts, studied the factors of change, and those responsible for it. The contributions were evaluated on the following parameters – health & nutrition, education, agriculture & water resources, financial inclusion & skill development and infrastructure.

Dr. Kuldip Maity was selected as a ‘Champion of Change’ for his contribution towards financial inclusion in the ‘Aspirational Districts’ by a high profile committee headed by K G Balakrishnan, former Chief Justice of India (CJI) and Chairperson, National Human Rights Commission (NHRC). Other jury members comprised of prominent personalities like former Supreme Court Justice Gyan Sudha Misra, senior journalist Ved Pratap Vaidik, veteran film maker Subhash Ghai, Pahlaj Nihalani, S.Y Quraishi, former Chief Election Commissioner and Padma Vibhushan, Sonal Mansingh.
