Bhubaneswar, March 10
Now persons belonging to Economically Weaker Section (EWS) will be able to avail reservation facility in direct recruitment for civil posts and services in Union Government.
However, they will have to produce authentic income and asset certificates for availing the benefit.
The Union Ministry of Personnel and Training has notified all the State Governments in this regard and asked to do the process of verification and issuance of certificates in an expeditious manner.
With the persons belonging to EWS are now covered under the reservation in Direct Recruitment in All India Service, Union Government has issued guidelines for ensuring the veracity of income and asset certificates of such persons.
Sujata Chaturvedi, Additional Secretary Department of Personnel & Training has urged the State Government to issue suitable instructions to the competent authorities so that they will verify and issue Income and Asset Certificates in an expeditious manner.
She said that the persons belonging to EWSs, who are not covered under ST,SC and OBC shall get 10 percent reservation in direct recruitment in civil posts and services in the Government of India.
Detailed Guidelines issued in this regard says that certificate issuing authority will have to ensure the veracity of the income and asset certificates so that unscrupulous persons are prevented from jobs meant for EWS by producing false or fake Income and Asset Certificate, said Chaturvedi.
Persons, who are not covered under the scheme of reservation for SCs, STs, and OBCs and whose family has gross annual income below Rs.8 Lakh are to be identified as EWSs for benefit of reservation.
Also persons, whose family owns or possess 5 acres of agricultural land and above, residential flat of 1000 sq.ft. and above, residential plot of 100 sq. yards in notified Municipalities or residential plot of 200 sq. yards and above in areas other than the notified Municipalities shall be excluded from being identified as EWS, irrespective of family income, pointed out the guidelines.
Now the Union Government has instructed all the Departments to appoint Liaison Officers as the scheme has been made effective from 1 February, 2019.
