BHUBANESWAR, JAN 24: Odisha Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi today directed the General Administration Department to provide the new OSWAS software to Secretaries of all departments for its experimental use.
Padhi, while reviewing the progress of Odia language in official work in Secretariat, also suggested holding book fairs across all districts of the State.
Sources said, the Chief Secretary insisted that Odia language be used more and more through the OSWAS software which when successful will be integrated with Microsoft Office software.
These sources said, the meeting was informed that State government has already exempted fees on Odia language studies at College and University level and arrangement has been finalized to hold seminars on Odia literature for its development.
The Chief Secretary directed the officials to compile the best papers read at these seminars, they said.
The review meeting discussed the implementation of Government’s decision for promoting the language.
It discussed about the grant of ‘Byasa Kabi Fakir Mohan scholarship, translation of famous Odia books into other languages, identifying and awarding people/organization working to promote the language, libraries in all High Schools, formation of a Language Commission, booklets in Odia for Odias residing outside etc.
Padhi directed the officials to celebrate the birth anniversary of Atibadi Jagannath Das at his native village and revival of the Satalahadi Mutt.
