Bhubaneswar, May 7
After the Air Asia announcement to start flight service to Jharsuguda from June 14, the much awaited flight services to steel city Rourkela will begin from the same day under the Ude Desh ka Aam Naagrik (UDAN) scheme as regional airline Air Odisha has started booking tickets for the Rourkela-Bhubaneswar route.
According to sources, Air Odisha flight number 6X 124 will leave Bhubaneswar at 4.15 pm and arrive at Rourkela at 5.15 pm and reach Bhubaneswar at 6.30 pm after leaving Rourkela at 5.30 pm as 6X 125.
The flight services will be available six days a week except Sunday and the fare has been fixed at Rs 2,050 (including all taxes) per passenger.
“Being an industrial township, air connectivity will have huge commercial ramifications for the region apart from catering to the travel and business needs of the people. There were setbacks and disappointments but thankfully all the impediments and bottlenecks were done away with and finally, the much-required air link to Rourkela will commence from next month,” said Rourkela MLA Dilip Ray.
